Exeter City’s Under-18s returned to league action with a comfortable 3-0 victory away at Bristol Rovers U18s.
A frustrating first 45 was typified by the slow tempo set by both sides, and at the midpoint of the opening half, the Grecians were thankful goalkeeper Andrew Sowden was at his best to keep matters goalless.
City were awarded a penalty two minutes before the interval and George Spencer converted from 12-yards. The Grecians always looked the fitter and stronger side, and following a sustained amount of pressure, a dangerous ball across goal located Spencer, and the striker tucked away his second goal of the day.
The away team had to wait until the 80th minute to wrap up the points, when substitute Ed James scored from close-range to make it 3-0.
Coach Kevin Nicholson said: "We found a way to win which is what the boys will have to do if they become professionals.”
