The 2022/23 Indoor Season is well under way at Madeira Bowls Club and the representative teams are off to a very good start.
The men played in the first rounds of the County Over 60's and Interclub, starting against Mid Devon and Madeira did well to win three of the four rinks and overall with a score of 85 shots to 66. Terry Reardon’s rink picked up four shots in the last four ends to ensure a plus 21 shot difference, earning an extra two points.
The Interclub match was against Kingsley and again, Madeira won on three of the four rinks to score 83 to 75.
The ladies representative teams had an equally good start in the County Foxlands Trophy playing against the strong opposition from Honiton. The away teams did well to win one game and draw the other and the home teams won one and lost one to achieve an overall win of 83 shots to 64.
In friendly fixtures, the Ladies travelled to Dawlish and a stirring display from Penny Preece, Lin Hambly, Angela Fish and Sandy Worcester helped Madeira to a comfortable victory.
Honiton sent three men’s triples teams to Madeira and performed very well to win 69 - 39.
