The best news of the week for Madeira Bowls Club was success off the greens and in the gardens.
At the Exmouth in Bloom presentation this week, Joy Penberthy, whose hard work year in and year out has made the herbaceous border at the club a masterpiece, was delighted to be presented with an RHS Level 5 certificate (Outstanding) in the In Your Neighbourhood category and a gold award from Exmouth in Bloom for Community Effort.
Ron Cook, Captain of the Day, was pleased to welcome the DCIBA President Ian Turner, a member of Mid Devon, and his team, which included the current Senior and Junior Vice Presidents and four Past Presidents. Madeira’s best rink was skipped by David Macaulay, playing with Alan Halpin, Geoff Furminger and Dave Moody, who won their game by 23 shots to 17 but there was an overall win for the President’s team of 68 shots to 55.
