Brixington Blues U14s staged a brilliant recovery to earn an entertaining draw against league leaders Crediton United.
Outfield player Harry Tooby had to take on goalkeeping duties and was outstanding throughout, setting a platform for Ned O’Mahoney to give the Blues the lead from the penalty spot.
The defensive unit looked good with Nadyne Da Silva, playing her last game for the Blues before moving to West Brom, particularly effective.
Gradually, however, Crediton began to show their strength and scored either side of half-time to lead 2-1. The lead was extended from a free-kick and the Blues had to dig deep to get back into the match.
Jude Ritchie used his strength to break down the right and delivered a fabulous cross for Oliver Dawkins to hammer home an emphatic finish. With only five minutes remaining, the Blues won a second penalty and O’Mahoney kept his nerve to earn his side a point.
