Ten Tries scored throughout a cracking game of running rugby, ensured the Cockles grabbed five league with bonus points, winning 67-11, their highest league score since 2015, ironically against Old Centralians from Gloucester again.
Lewis Geran (4) & James Clarke (3), both wingers showed skills to score individual and finish team tries. Ben Hawley, Oli Cave with George Meadows all added one a piece, and Meadows topped up his tally with seventeen points from the boot.
The damage was done by half time, 34-6, with Exmouth on top in every aspect of the game. The Cockles’ front five controlled the platform to work from, the back row made life difficult for the visitors all afternoon. Scrum Half Charlie Passmore delivered quick ball to the backs who looked sharp from coast to coast. Exmouth are up to 8th place in Regional 1 South West League.
Team. Jack Madge, Will Ridout, Gareth Walker, Steve Pape, Toby Papp, Ben Hawley, Connor O’Shaughnessy, Max Keen, Charlie Passmore, George Meadows, James Clarke, George Mears, Nick Headley, Lewis Geran, Sam Whitehead. Reps. Brad Skinner, Jack Hamilton, Oli Cave.
Exmouth Quins secured a losing bonus point against a spirited South Molton 1st Team. The home side will rue a couple of missed opportunities through decision-making in the second half.
Jevon Dry and Eddie Hooper scored tries with one conversion for Sam Moudiotis. Quins went down 12-15 after leading at half time. Eddie Hooper did seem to score a great acrobatic try in the corner however this was ruled out. Prop Matt Fowler went over, also cancelled out.
Still games to catch up on after recent postponements and Quins did well to keep their single point reward, as the next set of games gives them the opportunity to move up the table.
The club hosts a Past Players Day on Saturday, and the visitors are Devonport Services currently in 4th place. Still some exciting rugby to play before the season concludes in April.
A large number of former players traveling back into Exmouth for a great afternoon of rugby and hospitality. The afternoon starts at 12pm. Quins travel to North Tawton with Nomads on the road to Ilfracombe.
