East Budleigh Reserves produced another fine display, as goals from Jack Howarth and Man of the match Dan Atkinson gave them a 2-1 victory over Elmore.
The Tiverton side who started well but Budleigh restricted their opponents to a couple of half-chances. When Budleigh did come forward, Sam Rice was looking menacing and he was unlucky not to give his side the lead when hitting the post from a Tom Christian centre.
The deadlock was eventually broken on the stroke of half-time. Christian drilled a free-kick to Owen Corrick, who in turn crossed for Rice, he squared and Howarth did the rest.
Christian’s set piece delivery was always a danger and on 62 minutes, his peach of a corner was cleared as far as Atkinson who made it 2-0.
Elmore struck a late consolation to set up a tense finish but the defensive unit of Ben Hobbs, Lewis Fletcher, Atkinson and Corrick held firm with the Ben’s Wiltshire and Wilks supporting in front.
The First X1 had a fine win 5-1 at Bow last Saturday. It was good to see the return of Jack Greenslade who scored twice, whilst there were also goals for Hugo Demetre, Adam Wilkinson and Toby Hill.
