A brace from top scorer Dan Atkinson and a short cameo appearance from veteran Manager Alan Palmer were just a couple of highlights in what was an entertaining 4-1 victory for East Budleigh Reserves over Colyton.
The Jays were ahead after 10 minutes when Brendan Hood headed in a free-kick from Tom Christian, but eight minutes later the visitors were level when a deflected shot gave Budleigh keeper Chris Wardle no chance.
Driven on by captain and Player of the Match Ben Wiltshire, Owen Corrick, Nathan Penhalluriock and Jack Howarth all went close before Ross Bright saw his set-piece go straight through a crowded area and into the net to give his side a 2-1 lead.
Two minutes in to the second period Budleigh’s superiority was highlighted again when Penhallurick squared for Atkinson to score his first and Budleigh’s third. The three points were sealed when Christian’s corner was emphatically finished by Atkinson.
