After the frustration of a rain-affected draw against Northamptonshire in the LV= Insurance County Championship, Somerset will turn their attention to a challenging trip to Lancashire on Thursday.
The Old Trafford club are very familiar with that ‘frustrating draw’ feeling, as all four of the matches in the County Championship so far have resulted in a stalemate. Lancashire currently sit just three points above Somerset in the table and a massive opportunity for both clubs to climb the ladder.
Lancashire, like Somerset, go into the game with a feeling that victory was snatched away from them in their previous outing. Jimmy Anderson was at his imperious best in the draw at Nottinghamshire but the home side somehow held out for a draw with just one wicket remaining. Olly Stone blocked his way through the last over with every Lancashire player clustered around the bat.
A big game awaits Somerset and Lancashire.
