Brixington Blues U14s continued their excellent run of form with a 5-1 defeat of Stoke Hill.
Brixington took the lead when Ned O’Mahoney fired a shot that was parried by the ‘keeper for Oliver Dawkins to follow up and hammer home.
Ethan Smith, at centre half, matched his striker’s pace to steal the ball off his toe, Thomas Brooking disrupted every Stoke Hill break and Frank Shelton made a heroic goal-line clearance.
A beautiful passage of play saw the ball passed along the back four, played onto the left wing and set up for Josh Tompkinson to lash home Brixington’s second. Stoke Hill managed to pull one back, but the second half belonged to the Blues.
Jude Richie showed incredible strength to hold off his markers and increase the lead to 3-1. Evan Clark in goal was superb throughout the game and distributed well, with Harry Batten and Will Palfrey as the spine of the team supported by Harry Tooby up front and Jake Gibbs-Clarke along the wing.
After great build-up play through Harley and Taylor Westaway, the ball found Ben Vines, whose cute pass played in Ryan McCann to fire home. Richie then struck a shot that hit both posts before going in!
