Some nice Smoothhounds are coming off of the beaches now with Exmouth SAC’s Tim Parsons finding one, whilst junior Archie Sweetland landed one of 9lbs 13oz.
Archie is a member of Honiton SAC, fishes for England and just two days after joining Exmouth SAC, beat the seniors in the 5th leg of the Tom Shepherd memorial trophy in atrocious conditions on Budleigh Salterton beach, where just a few Mackerel and Dogfish were landed.
Honiton SAC fished their monthly species competition out of Beer aboard Sambe and Orca. The top two anglers turned out to be father and son duo of Tom and Jack Travers. Tom scored 315 Points with young Jack out fishing ten seniors with 245 points.
Boat fishing around the south coast is really picking up. The first of this year’s mackerel are showing, along with some of fish that predate on them.
