It was always going to be difficult for Exmouth 2nds at leaders Teignmouth and Shaldon in C Division East of the Tolchards Devon Cricket League, and so it proved.
The South Devon visitors compiled a daunting 295/7, largely thanks to powerful middle order contributions. Elijah Payne (3/56) was the main bowler for Exmouth but the batsmen had no answer to the challenge.
Captain Richard Baggs did manage a quickfire 47 but Exmouth were all out for 146, losing by 149 runs.
Budleigh Salterton 2nds are top of D Division East after a competent 36-run victory at Whimple. Lee Russell struck a fine 88 for Budleigh and William Roper chipped in with 38, as Budleigh finished on 222 all out.
Sean Butler removed both the Whimple openers cheaply and was ably assisted by Kamalakar Posapalli with more wickets down the order. Whimple finished on 188/9 from their 45 overs.
