Exmouth Cricket Club’s women’s team travelled to Hatherleigh for the second fixture of the season in the Super 8s Hardballers and another steaming hot day out in the middle.
Despite a stoic display throughout the team, including an entertaining 26 with the bat from Jos Trayler-Clark, Exmouth slipped to a narrow 11-run defeat against Thorverton CC.
On the junior scene, Exmouth U12s cruised into semi-final of the East Devon Cup with a dominant 102-run victory over Seaton, setting up a clash with Exeter in the last four and a repeat of last season’s final.
Exmouth scored a powerful 161-2 in the first innings, with Josh Holmes (32 ret), Harry Rintoul (30 ret) and Ethan Lewis (30 ret) leading the scorers. In the field, Exmouth were impeccable. Dylan Hennesy took three wickets and there were three sharp stumpings for wicketkeeper Holmes, as Seaton fell way short of their target.
