Dawn Teed and Hugh Marsden continued their participation in the 2023 Dartmoor Fell Race Series in the Postbridge Pootle, a self-navigating 10.5km moorland run with 270m of climb that started and finished next to the famous clapper bridge.
The 73 runners took a forest track onto broken ground to Braddon Lake then a sharp but runnable incline to Braddon Tor followed by a circuit with a few small valleys for Lower White Tor, Higher White Tor and Longaford Tor. The run to the finish passed the historic Powder Mills farm into Bellever Woods with a straight forest track to the finish.
Hugh finished third M60 and 35th overall in a time of 61:15 and Dawn was fourth W50 and 69th overall in 88:40.
Scoring in the 2023 series is the best nine results from the 12 races. With four races left in the series, Dawn and Hugh are in contention for age-group trophies (W50 for Dawn & W60 for Hugh). The final races are The Ivybridge 3 Top on August 9, The Great Links Tor Flyer on August 23, a “Surprise Course” Fell Race on September 13 and finally the East Mill Tor Loop on September 30.
