Exmouth Harriers have produced some amazing results in a wide variety of events in five very different locations.
Jenny Reay raced in the 10,000m in the European Masters Track & Field Championships in Pescara, Italy. Keeping an even stride throughout the 25 laps, Jenny steadily pulled away from the opposition to cross the finishing line in a superb time of 46.05. Congratulations to Jenny, who was awarded the W65 Gold Medal and the title of European 2023 W65 10,000m Champion.
Oli White took on the challenge of 26.2 miles around the streets of Berlin in the BMW Berlin Marathon. He was aiming to improve his pb (personal best) time of 2.37.05 set in the 2023 TCS London in April. After taking the first 13.1 miles steadily in 1.17.12 Oli gradually increased his pace mile by mile to finish in 2.32.52 with a rarely achieved negative split of 1.15.40 in the 2nd 13.1 miles. Oli was really pleased to finish 297th out of the 45,000 finishers.
Ten Harriers ran in the Newton Abbot Ladies’ 10km that started and finished at the Dornafield Caravan & Camping Site. Hannah Bown, Cat Goncalves and Dana Kalin achieved top ten positions overall.
Cathy Newman ran for the first time since suffering a number of painful injuries after a recent cycle accident and amazingly still came 3rd in the W60 age-group. In the other age-groups Hannah was 1st W45, Nicola Kelly was 2nd W55 and Kay Douglas was 2nd W65. To top it all, the Exmouth Harriers Ladies team were second overall.
