East Budleigh Reserves made it four wins on the spin when completing a league double over opponents Sidmouth last Saturday.
The Jays started quickly and were ahead inside two minutes; Ioan Harding fed Nathan Penhallurick whose driven cross was turned into his own net by a visiting defender.
The response from the away side was almost immediate but Budleigh 'keeper Reggie Kew made an excellent fingertip save.
Despite this chance, Budleigh were having the better of it; Brendan Hood was having a good game, whilst Penhallurick managed to hit the woodwork twice. Two minutes before the break, Harding set up Penhallurick who made no mistake this time.
After the interval, Budleigh had more chances to score as Harding, Joe Bowden and Dan Atkinson all went close.
Sidmouth sent on fresh legs as the halfway point of the second half came; Kew again saved well and the Budleigh defence stood firm for the clean sheet and the three points.
Ryan Britton was voted player of the match for a Budleigh side who are at Halwill on Saturday. The First X1 return to action against St Martins in the East Devon Cup.
