East Budleigh Reserves were on the wrong side of five goals when hosting Halwill last Saturday, writes Mark Auton.
The visitors carried an aggressive manner that bullied the Jays and, despite a good early save from Budleigh ‘keeper Reggie Kew, the away side took the lead.
On the stroke of half-time, Dan Atkinson’s backward header brought the sides level. Despite the goal, Budleigh were unable to kick on and it was Halwill who went ahead again in the 57th minute before adding a third as well.
Ben Nelson and Zac Airth joined the action for Budleigh and it was the latter that converted a late cross from Joe Bowden, but it was all a bit too late.
The First X1 were disappointed to lose 2-1 at Teignmouth. The highlight for Budleigh was a goal from Jack Greenslade, but after conceding two sloppy goals themselves, the Jays could not find a way back.
