East Budleigh were back to winning ways last Saturday with a 3-1 win at Bow, writes Mark Auton. It was a deserved victory with an excellent team display, Jack Howarth, Brad Hill and James Bridge all scoring for the Jays.
The Player of the Match award went to Rian Hill for a side that will look to repeat the performance at home to Newtown this weekend.
After beating the first and third placed teams, East Budleigh Reserves were beaten 3-0 by a good Alphington side. Budleigh had a good opportunity to open the scoring but Tom Christian fired over from an Owen Corrick cross.
The away side took a two-goal lead and were denied a third by a fine double save from ‘keeper Drew Shorrock. The second half was better for Budleigh; Joe Bowden and Michael Tapp kept running for the cause, whilst Lewis Fletcher and Joe Day did the same at the back before the Alphas added a late third.
