After e recent narrow defeat to West Hill and conceding a last minute equaliser to Sidmouth, Lympstone U16s got their title hopes back on track with a gritty 2-0 win over Central Reds.
Crawford Pitt, Taylor Chidgey, Brodie Frazer and Jack Johnson all went close for Lympstone before a well worked corner from Rory MacDonald set up Captain Rhys Jenkins who coolly side footed the ball into the bottom corner.
The second half saw Central pushing forward more and Rhys Jenkins bravely blocked the visitors’ first shot of the match.
Jack Johnson's tenacity on the left earned a corner. Oscar Connock's beautifully flighted ball was met by Brodie Frazer with a powerful header into the top corner. This opened the game up and Central threatened more but the score remained the same thanks to Lympstone's three centre backs and Hayden Norton in goal.
Lympstone, in third, are a point behind second and two behind the leaders.
