Madeira Bowls Club hosted the Devon Colts, one of the county’s youth bowls teams this past weekend, writes Mary Ann Dowrick.
The game was played in memory of the past Devon County President, Mr. Keith Weeks. The match was evenly balanced, resulting in a tie with each team securing 54 points. The trophy was awarded jointly by Mr Weeks’ daughter Karen.
On the wider scene, Ladies Bowls in Devon is facing a worrying crisis. With just a few weeks to go until the County AGM on Monday, April 22, there are still no nominations for County Secretary at the Devon County Ladies Bowling Association.
If this situation persists, female bowlers in Devon will potentially find their summer season wiped out in terms of competitions and friendly fixtures for clubs. Please contact Devon Bowls if you can help and support will be provided to the new County Secretary.
