Exmouth Town U13 Girls produced some superb football to secure an entertaining 3-2 victory over Paignton Villa.
Paignton grabbed the lead before Lily Pridham scored her first goal of the season after some neat work in midfield, slotting home the rebound after the Villa ‘keeper had made a fine save. Villa went back in front, only for Evie Ellis to find the net for 2-2 at half-time.
An own goal proved decisive in the second period and Town really showed confidence in the final stages, playing some good football with determination and desire to not surrender their lead and giving the visitors nothing, as Xanthe Clarke led her team to three points with an excellent defensive and captain’s display.
The U13 Girls were back in action 48 hours later and made it a six-point weekend with a dominant 9-0 victory over Brixham.
The ever impressive Evie Ellis bagged herself five goals, the pick of which came halfway through the first half, as she received the ball on the half turn before unleashing an unstoppable strike from 20 yards which arrowed into the top corner.
Further goals followed, as Carla Drysdale, Karlie Dentith and Xanthe Clarke scored her first of the season. Lucie Sullivan capped a very impressive debut by slotting home at the back post after some great work down the left by honey Rose Stroud-Moxey.
Player of the match was Beth Titley, a full-back display full of confidence and energy and then going in goal for the second half. Beth was followed closely by Aayla Wilmot, who’s communication and desire for her team did not go unnoticed by the coaches.
Exmouth Town U15 Girls got their Spring League campaign off to a positive start with an entertaining 1-1 draw at Axminster. Eliza Turner gave Exmouth the lead with a crisp finish from a tight angle but Axminster pounced on a rare defensive lapse to earn the draw.
Town coaches Aaron Skinner and Neal Harris were full of praise for the team, and even felt their charges could have won the game, a superb revival against an Axminster side that Exmouth 5-1 in pre-season.
