Budleigh Bowls Club started their outdoor season with two victories.
The first was against the Westlecot touring team, who brought 18 players on May 4 to play a mixed triples game.
Of the six teams in the Budleigh squad, five were victorious, and the outstanding trio of the day were Ann Vincent, Ted Shanahan and Andy Cardy, who secured an impressive victory of 19:6.
The overall result was a win for Budleigh of 106:76.
On May 7, 12 Budleigh players travelled to Ottery St. Mary for a mixed triples game and came the home the victors with a score of 72:50.
The stars of the afternoon were trio of Ann Vincent, Derrick Parker and Paul Griffin with a win of 22:10
On May 10, the Budleigh squad travelled to St Thomas for a mixed game and at the halfway point of 9 Ends, Budleigh held a lead of 40:20.
Unfortunately, during the break for tea, one of the players from St Thomas was taken ill and it was decided to call-off the game.
The player has since made a full recovery.
The final game in May was an away fixture at Chardstock, but due to the torrential rain the game was called-off, and it is hoped another date can be slotted-into the busy schedule of both clubs.
