The weather may have been less than favourable for most of the bank holiday weekend, but it didn’t stop Harriers racing in eight fantastic events over the four days.
Friday, May 24: - Run Exe Relays, Exeter
35 Harriers took part in City Runs popular relay event with teams of 4 running legs of 4km around the Exwick Playing Fields and along the footpath beside the River Exe.
Harriers had nine teams competing:

Saturday, May 25 - Hokey Cokey Swim / Run, St Austell Cornwall
Described as Cornwall’s toughest multi-sport event this swim/run was really testing and a tough challenge! It was the 6th edition of the Hokey Cokey and was within the heart of the lovely coastal harbour village of Charlestown.
Kevin Doyle excelled in the Strong (Long) Course, 13.8km run & 5.2k sea swim and finished in 34th place in a superb time of 4 hours 8 minutes 49 seconds.
Saturday, May 25 - Race the Tide, the Woodland Trail, South Hams, Devon
Race the Tide was in the glorious setting of the Flete Estate, Mothecombe, South Devon, there were three races that catered for runners of all abilities. Alice Thomas opted for the 8.5 mile race and was 70th in 1.30.23.
Saturday, May 25 - Langstone Fell Race at Peter Tavy, Devon
This was the 3rd race in the 2024 Dartmoor Fell Race series with three Harriers taking part and one (Lisa Hatchard) volunteering to “Sweep” the course.
Starting and finishing in the Dartmoor Village of Peter Tavy the race took in Coombe Tor, Cox Tor and the ancient Langstone before returning to the village via Boulters Tor. The approximate 10km race featured stunning views across Dartmoor with ascents and descents and short technical challenges.

Saturday, May 25 - Classic Quarter Coastal Relay, Helston, Cornwall
Dani Kalin & Matt Harrison ran in this extremely challenging event where they had to run 36K each with just over 1000m of elevation
As a team they placed 9th out of 82 teams overall and they were the 1st mixed team out of 30 in a total time of 7 hours 31 minutes and 23 seconds.
Matt said after the event “We both could barely climb in to the campervan at the end”.
Sunday, May 26 - Manchester Great Run (1/2 Marathon)
Hannah Bown had qualified during the 2023 selection Masters race and was picked to run for England Masters in the Celtic Challenge within the 2024 Great Manchester 1/2 Marathon.

Sunday, May 26 - Great West Run, Exeter
One of Devon’s premier running events that started and finished at Exeter Arena. Nine Harriers ran in the 1/2 Marathon and one in the 10km. In the 1/2 Marathon Nathan Sheehy was 2nd in his M45-49 age group and qualified to represent the England Masters team in the Celtic Challenge 1/2 Marathon race in 2025 (venue yet to be agreed).

Monday, May 27: Uplowman 10km
Five Harriers raced in this event hosted by Tiverton Harriers over a single 10km road loop with approximately 100m elevation. The start and finish was at the village hall in Uplowman with a mix of flat and fast roads and rolling Devon lanes.
Jenny Reay was the first Harrier to finish and she was the 1st W65 overall.
