Budleigh Beavers celebrated a significant victory against the Ottery Eagles in the Exeter and District Over 60s Triples League.
With expectations of wins for both teams, the Beavers exceeded predictions securing an overall lead of 34-23.
Andy Skudder, Brian Ward, and skip Terry Flynn achieved a comfortable 19-10 win, alongside their team members Ted Shanahan, Roy Ardiss and skip Bryan Membery who sealed their victory in the last end at 15-13.
This triumph not only earns the Beavers a well-deserved eight points but also places them in second place in their division.
Meanwhile, the Otters, performing under strain with two regular players absent, hoped for a win to keep their promotion prospects alive.
However, despite a close match against Cullompton at home, they fell short, leaving the visitors to claim six points with a 34-31 victory.
Andy Cardy, joined by Paul Griffin and Peter Evans, conquered their rink 19-16, while Norman Upchurch, Gordon Marshall and Peter Cooper narrowly missed out 12-18.
Despite the disappointment, the Otters remain in the top half of the division with one game in hand.
They now face a challenge to regain their position in Division 2.
To do so, they must display an unbroken winning streak in their forthcoming matches.
