Excitement is mounting as Exmouth Town prepare to begin their season.
The game, against rivals Street FC, kicks off on Saturday, 3pm at the Community Stadium.
This comes after a series of successful pre-season friendlies, setting the stage for a clash not to be missed in the preliminary round of the Emirates FA Cup.
Street FC also had an impressive start to their season within the Western League Premier Division, securing a 2-1 victory over St Austell in their initial game.
Town completed their home friendlies with a very encouraging 3-0 win over Poole Town last Friday evening watched by a crowd of 276 having beaten Cullompton Rangers 5-1 earlier in the week.
Moreover, the versatility of their players was highlighted, with mention of five different goal scorers including Tom Bath, Callum Shipton, Jack Thorne, Aarron Denny, and Ben Steer scoring against Cully.
The anticipation was palpable in their last match against Poole.
The first half concluded without a single goal scored.
However, the second half saw a moment of brilliance from Mike Landricombe, whose stunning 30-yard goal described as a thunderbolt created a buzz in the spectators.
Denny Cross then saw an opposing player head the ball past his own keeper before Denny himself showcased his skills to guide the ball home.
Whichever team triumphs in this fixture stands to win £1125.00 while the loser walks away with £375.00.
The winners will then face either Brixham or Saltash United at home in the next round scheduled for August 17.
If the match ends in a tie, a replay will be set at Street’s Tannery ground.
Exmouth Town are also due to wrap up their pre-season friendlies with a game against Budleigh Salterton on Wednesday evening.
