Exeter City Women's Football Club has appointed Jen Dixon as their new executive chair as they embark on a new chapter in their history.

Ms Dixon, whose tenure starts this month, comes with an extensive background in driving change and transformation across different sectors.

She's well-versed in financial services, retail, government agencies and sports governing bodies.

Ms Dixon has also held several board positions.

Her passion for women's football and in-depth knowledge of the sector including her recent appointment as a non-executive director at Devon FA.

The creation of the Executive chair position is designed to guide the team's developmental journey under the management of Exeter City after its recent transition from Exeter City Community Trust.

Ms Dixon's appointment comes at a critical time for the football club, as they look forward to innovative leadership and strategic growth.

Nick Hawker, Chair of Exeter City Supporters’ Trust, said: "We’re very pleased to welcome Jen to Exeter City.

"Her commitment to the sport, combined with her professional expertise, positions her perfectly to lead Exeter City Women into an exciting future filled with potential and success."

Living in Exeter, Ms Dixon is an ardent football fan, whose family members are actively engaged in local football.

Her two daughters have both benefitted from progression through the Exeter youth system.

Backed by her credentials as a chartered global management accountant and experienced change specialist, she has delivered notable results working with diverse organisations by offering coaching and mentoring.

12 years ago, Ms Dixon qualified as a grassroots FA coach for a local team.

Her passion for football and her commitment to creating opportunities for women in the sport, saw her transform a grassroots club from a mere five girls in a 300-member group to over 150 female players today.

She combines these efforts with her governance roles within County FAs at Somerset and Devon.

She said: "I’m delighted to take up this position as the women’s team begins the new season newly promoted to the third tier of women’s football.

"The team has grown and flourished under the care of Exeter City Community Trust.

"I feel incredibly privileged to be able to play a role in the next phase of the development of the women’s team and female pathway at the Club.

"Recent years have seen a huge transformation and growth in Women’s football on and off the pitch at all levels of the game.

"The opportunity before us is to build on the fantastic success and learnings from the past to continue to transform and grow women’s football sustainably"

Ms Dixon believes that the shift towards semi-professional women's football will further enhance the club's prospects.

Earlier in May, the team advanced to the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division.

The promotion and ensuing modifications, resulting in players receiving semi-professional contracts, made it complex for the team to remain under Exeter City Community Trust, which had served as its development hub for eight years, due to its charitable status.

Exeter City Women's upcoming season kicks off with their first game against MK Dons at 2pm on Sunday, August 18.

The match is scheduled to take place at St James Park.

Ticket bookings for home matches running through October are currently open, with further details about the remaining matches anticipated soon.
