Madeira Bowling Club lost to the Royal Household BC following a challenging match under testing weather conditions.
The 7-rink game on September 6, originally under threat due to rain, took place after volunteers helped prepare the water-logged pitch.
The guests from Windsor, however, took advantage of the altered conditions, winning six out of seven rinks and overall by +59 shots.
The only shining light for Madeira was the rink skipped by Bob Walker, who narrowly secured a one-shot victory alongside teammates Christine Macaulay, Vic Doidge and John Sweetman.
Despite the defeat, the event was described as a most enjoyable afternoon, with delighted visitors heading back to their hotel in high spirits.
