In an exciting turn of events at Madeira Bowling Club, Steve Moodie and Bob Walker clinched the Men's Pairs Competition final in a nail-biting match.
The final, which was postponed to September 8, saw Moodie and Walker pit their skills against Roger Davis and Ken Roberts.
The initially balanced game soon tipped in Moodie and Walker's favour as they won with a narrow margin of 15-13.
It was a very close game with the scores level after 10 ends at 8 shots each and at 18 ends, with 3 more ends to play, it was 12 all.
The outdoor sports hub saw the first club game of the week on September 10 when four triples geared up against Totnes BC.
But bad weather had other plans, and the match, initially scheduled for 18 ends, was cut short to 14.
However, Madeira claimed a commendable 49-42 victory over the opponents.
Two days later, Madeira was visited by Denmead Bowling Club from Hampshire for a mix of 10 rinks and triples games.
Denmead BC is no stranger to Madeira and there were many renewed acquaintances on this visit.
Despite an unexpected cloudburst scare, Madeira went ahead and secured a significant lead.
After tea, they pressed home their advantage and eventually won the game,
The team eventually came out on top by an impressive margin of +58 shots.
On September 13, a friendly contest between Madeira and Budleigh Salterton Bowling Clubs took place.
Limited to only three triples due to other commitments, the match was played with incredible enthusiasm.
Madeira swept all three rinks, leading to their victory.
They managed to win on all three rinks with the top honours.
Despite the many challenges, the Madeira Bowling Club has had a successful week, staging captivating matches and enjoying well-deserved victories.
