Exmouth's under-14 girls' team began their home campaign with a narrow defeat to Broadclyst.
Initially, they scored with an early goal as Ellis slotted efficiently past Broadclyst's keeper from a strong through ball, leaving it 1-1 at half-time.
The second half reflected the first's evenly-matched intensity with Town often in possession yet failing to score.
Broadclyst took the lead and the game after firing an unbeatable free kick into the net.
Despite pressing hard in response, Town left the pitch empty-handed despite a strong performance deserving of points.
Player of the week was Olivia Chalk.
The team now focuses on the upcoming away match against Central Tigers.
