The only two unbeaten teams in the league, Exmouth Rugby 1st Team and Launceston RFC, gave their followers a match to remember.

The action-packed match, held in Cornwall on September 21, delighted spectators, with the scoreline shifting from team to team before concluding favourably for the away team.

The game was a true test for both teams early in the season.

Jake InglisJake Inglis Exmouth, referred to as COCKLES, were second in the league and gave a formidable performance against the reputation-boosted Launceston RFC, popularly known as Cornish All-Blacks.

As expected, the match was an entertainer from the start.

Ollie Bebbington kicked off the lead for Launceston.

However, Jake Inglis made a swift return with a try in the right corner bringing the score to 5-5.

COCKLES' Lewis Tose followed up with two successful penalties that elevated Exmouth's lead to 5-11.

The game continued in a thriving spirit as Bebbington rallied his team, pushing them back into the lead by 12-11.

Although both sides demonstrated strength and resilience, it was evident that the COCKLES forward pack had more control in the afternoon.

Adam Watts' contribution compensated for the COCKLES, setting the score at 12-16 at halftime.

In the second half of the game, Dave Bargent made a breakthrough after a series of scrum penalties.

The move, along with Tose's conversion, placed Exmouth ahead 12-23.

Shortly after, Launceston struck back through Lloyd Duke and George Hilson taking their score to 19-23.

The game was very much alive and saw Oli Cave push through the defence at the 56-minute mark, leading to an increased score of 19-30.

However, Launceston managed to lower the gap to a 4-point difference following a try from Jose Luis Juarez, setting the score at 26-30.

The game finale saw the two teams in intense confrontation.

Jake Inglis, demonstrated what could be considered for the try of the season, and Tose's conversion secured a victory for Exmouth at 26-37.

In the end, the COCKLES took home five more league points with Launceston taking away just one.

The Exmouth squad received commendations for their stellar performance, particularly the forward pack, including Tommy Andrews, Charlie Gibbings, Oli Dawe, and Charlie Dore making his debut.

Jake Inglis was voted Exmouth Man Of The Match by the Launceston followers – a well-deserved recognition.

However, according to the COCKLES followers and coaching team, the whole squad deserved the accolade after the exciting afternoon play.

The team is set to face old foes Barnstaple, who presently hold second place, at 2.30pm on September 28.

This one-two-table clash is expected to be another thrilling event for rugby fans to look forward to.
