Exmouth Town Under 12 girls football team secured 3 more points in their second game of the season against Brixham, despite challenging weather conditions.
The game was played at Warren View on a wet and soggy morning on September 29.
The adverse weather conditions actually worked to Town's advantage in the first half, as they used their speed out wide to create multiple opportunities.
Striker Tabitha Brown twice nearly scored with long-range shots.
Halfway through the first half, the determined Ivy-Rae Vaughan scrambled the ball to Amelia Thompson, who smashed it home from near range.
Elina Shehi, Josie-Leigh Hepburn, Hattie Phillips-Clark, Sienna Smith at the back, and the tireless Liberty Moore and Issy Winn in the midfield all contributed to the solid 1-0 lead at the end of the first half.
The second half saw some tactical changes and a formation shift.
This allowed Town to maintain their dominance and exploit Brixham's back line with pace.
Substitutes Molly Cook Roberts, Athena Clarke, Emily Gray and Molly Kite upheld Town's strong defence.
They also created opportunities by playing out from the back.
Maisie Evans nearly scored, stopped only by an excellent save from Brixham's goalie.
Amelia Kite then turned the tables on Brixham's defence, intimidating them with her speed.
While she hit the post and was blocked by the Brixham keeper once again, Kite eventually got her deserved goal.
Rosie Smith assisted her as Kite ran from the halfway line to slide the ball calmly into the bottom corner, making it 2-0 with just 10 minutes left in the game.
Brixham only managed to score a late consolation goal after breaking Town's defence with an individual run.
However, it was not enough to alter the scoreboard in their favour.
Although Town could not secure a clean sheet due to the wet conditions, they were undeterred after clinching the victory and remaining unbeaten with 4 points from their first two games.
Following the previous week's win and in high spirits, the girls then travelled to Watcombe for their second away game.
They secured another brilliant win by scoring four goals on the road.
A change in formation gave them an advantage, even though they had to contend with strong winds in the first half.
Midway through the first half, Tabitha Brown scored the breakthrough goal by striking a loose ball inside the box.
Despite an early second-half goal from Watcombe, Sienna Smith and Maisie Evan's stellar work, Ivy-Rae Vaughan's missed thunderbolt and a final goal from Amelia Kite saw Town lead 4-1.
Following the bye in this week's cup, the girls' next game is a local derby against Lympstone on October 13 at home.
