Budleigh Salterton Men’s 1st team drew 2-2 against Bere Alston United in a thrilling match, last Saturday.
The Robins came back well from being 0-2 down to gain an important point in the A&S Interiors Ltd Devon Football League.
Charlie Skinner was the hero for Budleigh, scoring both goals.
Once again this season, they only had the bare eleven players available.
In the Devon & Exeter Football League, Division 3, Budleigh Salterton 2nd team played a derby against East Budleigh 2nd team.
The match ended with Budleigh winning 3-1, earning them the Golden Egg and three points.
This victory keeps them in the leading pack with a perfect 100 per cent win rate.
East Budleigh 2nd team has been struggling to field a full squad this season, but they managed to have 16 players for this match.
The game was intense, with both teams eager to win.
The first goal came just before half-time, when Greg MacMartin scored with a curler that went beyond the reach of East Budleigh’s keeper, Chris Waddle.
The equaliser came 10 minutes into the second half.
Lewis Fletcher scored a stunning goal that left Budleigh’s goalkeeper, Matt Brown, unable to respond.
The match remained tightly contested until Sam Hollis scored to regain the lead for Budleigh with a shot that left the Jays' keeper bemused.
Unfortunately for the East Budleigh defender, an attempt to clear the ball resulted in an own goal, sealing the match at 3-1.
With this victory, Budleigh Salterton 2nd team has now played 5 matches, winning all and scoring 24 goals while conceding 7.
Their next match is scheduled away at Feniton on Saturday, October 26.
On Sunday, October 20, in the Sports Lighting Devon Women’s Football League, Budleigh Salterton Women faced Appledore Women in a League Cup match at Greenway Lane.
A defensive mistake in the 60th minute allowed Appledore to score the only goal of the game, sending them through to the next round.
The Budleigh Robinettes have played only three league games so far, winning one and drawing two.
According to the fixture list, they are set to travel to Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police next Sunday, October 27, with a kick-off time of 2pm.
