Budleigh Salterton 2nds staged a stunning fightback to win 4-2 against Feniton, last Saturday,
The match, part of the Devon & Exeter Football League, Division Three Championship, started poorly for Budleigh, who found themselves two goals down within the first 25 minutes.
Good passing from Feniton stretched the Budleigh defence, leading to the early goals.
However, this setback proved to be a wake-up call.
Matthew Lidstone began the comeback with a curler across the keeper, followed by an equaliser from Greg MacMartin just before halftime.
The second half saw Feniton attacking again, but Budleigh fought back strongly.
The turning point came when a back header from Conner Howe deceived the Feniton keeper, giving Budleigh their first lead at 3-2.
Greg MacMartin then scored his second goal, sealing the match at 4-2 and maintaining Budleigh's 100 per cent victory record this season.
The return fixture is set for this Saturday when Budleigh Salterton will host Feniton.
On the same day, Budleigh Salterton men’s 1st team faced a tough match against THORVERTON in the A&S Interiors Ltd Devon Football League, losing 0-1.
Despite the defeat, the team was pleased to have a full squad available.
In a derby on October 27, 2024, Budleigh Salterton Veterans Reds played against Clyst Valley in the Stitch2Print Devon County Veterans League, Division One East.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Adam Turner scoring for Budleigh before the visitors equalised just four minutes later.
The match was marked by yellow cards and a red card for two yellows, reflecting the competitive nature of the encounter.
