Exmouth Rugby 1st Team dominated St Austell RFC with a remarkable score of 68-14, last Saturday.
The Exmouth Cockles put on another impressive display, running in ten tries for the second week in a row during their trip to Cornwall.
This victory earned the team five league points and solidified their position in the Regional 1 South West League, sitting in second place, just one point behind Launceston.
Despite the Cockles' scoring spree, St Austell RFC did not back down easily.
They managed to score two tries, both from Dan Tyrell, with Archie Bees converting the scores.
Exmouth faced some challenges early on, as Nick Headley picked up an injury ten minutes into the match.
In response, Dave Bargent moved to centre, and Bryn Edwards came off the bench to fill the gap.
The Cockles got off to a flying start with Tom Mustoe crossing the line just four minutes into the game.
He was soon followed by Bobby Pond, Fin Marks, and Ollie Dave, securing the bonus point within the first 22 minutes.
George Meadows was instrumental, adding four conversions before halftime, leaving the score at 7-28.
In the second half, skipper Dave Bargent and Adam Watts quickly scored tries, with Meadows converting both, bringing his personal tally to twelve points for the match.
Matt Ryan also made a notable impact with two tries of his own.
Charlie Gibbings added to his season total, and Liam Bayley capped off the afternoon with a try under the posts.
Lewis Tose took over the kicking duties, adding three conversions.
The Cockles exhibited strong foundations throughout the match, with a solid scrum and lineout.
The back line showed pace and direction, looking for opportunities from each restart.
Although there were a couple of missed tackles that allowed St Austell to score, the defensive setup was generally effective.
The Cockles' players and coaching team acknowledged that they still have room for improvement as they look ahead to the challenges of the season.
Next up for Exmouth Rugby 1st Team is a trip to Ivybridge RFC on November 9.
The team will take this opportunity to reflect on their strong start to the season and prepare for upcoming matches, including a home game against Marlborough RFC on November 16.
