Devon Premier Cup: Dartmouth 4-0 Budleigh Salterton AFC
Budleigh Salterton went to Dartmouth in the Devon Premier Cup with a new man in charge but were well beaten 4-0 by the home side.
Stu Tuckett has taken over as first team manager after Simon Pearce decided to stand down last week.
A statement from the club read, “All at BSFC would like to put on record a big thank you to Simon for his contribution over the past three years.”
“He came in at a difficult time for the club and built some key foundations that have allowed us to move forward. We would also like to thank Sean Carstairs for his recent support.”
“Stu Tuckett will step up to first team interim manager while Mark Baitup continues to manage the Reserves while the club reviews its management plan going forward.”.
Stu Bowker scored from the penalty spot to put Dartmouth 1-0 ahead at Longcross and they were two goals to the good before the break through Danny Frankum.
Budleigh did have chances throughout the game with Ryan Fell and Jack Hockin both testing home goalkeeper Joe Moroney.
Bowker made it 3-0 following a corner on the hour and fifteen minutes from time Sam Hext completed the scoring when he headed home a Charlie Stevens cross.
Devon Premier Cup: Topsham Town 2-2 Beer Albion (Beer win 4-1 on penalties)
Beer Albion however are through to the next round of the same competition although it took a penalty shoot out to decide the tie at Topsham Town.
The Fishermen missed a penalty and three easy chances in the first fifteen minutes and then conceded two goals despite being the much better team.
Fifteen minutes into the second half they pulled a goal back when Taylor Rooke guided a cross into the far corner and ten minutes later it was all square as Charlie Ledger fired home from a corner.
Beer then created chances to win the game and had what looked to be a ‘good’ goal ruled out for offside.
In the penalty shoot-out that followed, Albion came out 4-1 on top.
Liam Cox, George Harwood, Jayden Rooke and Taylor Rooke all converted for Beer while goalkeeper Max Haywood saved two of the Topsham efforts.
All three local Devon League sides are away this Saturday (October 9th), Budleigh Salterton at Ipplepen Athletic, Ottery St. Mary at Plymstock United and Beer Albion at Topsham Town, again. Matches start at 2.15 p.m.
