Withycombe triumphed over Exmouth Quins in a fiercely contested derby match.

The match at the Imperial Recreation Ground saw Withycombe secure a 24-13 victory, earning them five points and the bragging rights.

The game began with Exmouth applying early pressure, rewarded with a drop goal after just seven minutes.

However, Withycombe responded well, with Alex Peterson scoring a try after a chip kick from Liam Daniels.

Both sides had chances to add to their scores from the tee, but both missed, leaving Withycombe with a narrow 5-3 lead at half-time.

The second half saw Withycombe extend their lead with a try from Luke Pattison, converted by Tom Cooke.

Their momentum continued with a second try from Elliot Lewis, who also converted, taking the score to 19-3.

Exmouth tried to fight back, creating an overlap on the wing to score in the corner.

However, the missed conversion left the points gap at 11.

Withycombe quickly responded, securing the bonus point with a try from Jayden Gore, much to the delight of their travelling supporters.

Exmouth managed a late try but failed to convert it, leaving the final score at 24-13.

It was a great game for the spectators and a proper derby classic with plenty of action from start to finish.

Withies had gained their third consecutive win at the Imperial Recreation Ground and for now, at least, rugby in Exmouth is green and black.

The win marks Withycombe's third consecutive victory at the Imperial Recreation Ground.
