A youth football team celebrated a decisive win.

The Exmouth Town U16s girls' team triumphed over Central with a 3-1 victory.

The match began with Town's well-executed 3-5-2 formation, enabling them to dominate the midfield.

After a series of promising early attacks, the team took the lead after 15 minutes.

Top scorer, Olivia Marles, received a well-placed pass from Eliza Turner, following great teamwork between Turner and Rubi Young.

Marles, after shooting into the defender initially, managed to collect the rebound and finish from a tight angle, marking her ninth league goal of the season.

During the remainder of the first half, Town created numerous other chances, with Eliza Turner, Lacey Skinner, and Caitlin Hill all coming close to scoring.

At the other end, Town's back three, comprising Eleanor Harris, Kodi-Leigh Sanders, and Holly Green, defended solidly.

Goalkeeper Grace Wileman effectively marshalled the defence, clearing any long, loose balls Central attempted.

In the second half, however, Town lost Marles, which prompted Rubi Young to play as a centre forward.

Megan H, Lily Worthington, and Amelia Densham came on in a new-look 4-5-1 setup.

Densham quickly adjusted to the pace of the game and made several strong challenges in the middle of the park.

After weathering a storm from Central, Town finished the last 20-25 minutes strongly.

The second goal came from a Town corner swung across by Turner.

The ball was half-cleared by a central defender, only to be met by captain Eleanor Harris, whose shot took a slight deflection en route to the net, marking her first goal for the club.

Town sensed more, with Turner proving dangerous down the left.

Skinner and Hill's combination on the right paid dividends going forward.

Despite Central scoring a late consolation goal from range, Town emerged victorious.

The team now prepares to welcome Watcombe next Sunday for another league match.
